Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Education Resource Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing educational support and resources to students with special needs, as well as collaborating with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs, including developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement effective instructional strategies and materials.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, parents, and community members to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in special education, incorporating new ideas and strategies into instructional practices.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in special education.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of district-wide initiatives and programs related to special education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid New Mexico Teacher's license with special education endorsement.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a special education teacher.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Experience with instructional design and delivery, including curriculum development and assessment.
