Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Science Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student learning.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to promote a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and making data-driven decisions to inform instruction.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and science instruction, incorporating new ideas and strategies into the classroom.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues through regular progress reports, parent-teacher conferences, and team meetings.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with district and state initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Current New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in Special Education and Science.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a focus on student needs and outcomes.
