Overview:
Albuquerque Public Schools is seeking dedicated educators to fill the role of Special Education Teacher - Resource Specialist. This position involves working within specialized programs to enhance educational outcomes for students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of essential functions, including:

  • Delivering direct instructional support to fellow educators in effective teaching practices.
  • Conducting demonstration lessons for teachers, students, and parents to showcase specialized instructional strategies.
  • Evaluating and assessing professional development initiatives to enhance instructional quality.
  • Coordinating resources to address professional development requirements.
  • Participating in district committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and reports for compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Serving as a knowledgeable resource to support understanding and implementation of specialized programs.
  • Researching and applying effective teaching methodologies relevant to the specialized field.
  • Providing schools with updated information on instructional materials and professional development opportunities.
  • Developing and demonstrating instructional materials for staff use.
  • Reviewing and creating training modules for professional development and instructional programs.
  • Preparing necessary documentation for the procurement of educational supplies and materials.
  • Facilitating training sessions on educational techniques for designated staff.
  • Collaborating in the development and execution of district-wide instructional programs.
  • Creating engaging learning experiences through workshops, training sessions, and instructional projects.
  • Establishing clear objectives for all educational activities and communicating these effectively.
  • Fostering a positive learning environment that caters to the needs and interests of participants.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in educational activities.
  • Contributing to a culture of professional learning and collaboration within the district.
  • Implementing adult learning principles and adhering to professional development standards.
  • Working alongside staff to assess and support students facing various challenges.
  • Providing training on program philosophy and implementation strategies.
  • Acting as a resource to enhance student achievement and staff productivity.

  • Understanding of district policies and relevant laws affecting education.
  • Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
  • Experience in collaborating with educators and delivering professional development workshops.
  • Familiarity with American Indian cultures and educational needs.
  • Leadership and facilitation skills, along with research capabilities.

Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Valid teaching license in New Mexico.
  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience.
  • Specific endorsements may be required based on the position.
