Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Development (DOD) will spearhead development efforts as New Hope continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the DOD will have the opportunity to build the development function.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute New Hope’s annual fundraising plan
  • Oversee all aspects of the Development Department including:
    • Management of Development staff and consultants
    • Implementation of fundraising events in coordination with Executive Director and Events Coordinator, recruiting guests and sponsors as needed
    • Ensuring New Hope is producing consistent and compelling digital communications in coordination with Social Media Coordinator
    • Managing the implementation of Salesforce CRM and oversight of Office Manager for data entry and gift processing
    • Developing foundation grant strategy and reporting in coordination with Grant Consultant and New Hope staff
    • Planning and executing quarterly direct mailings
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, churches and corporations
  • Visit with donors, developing relationships and requesting funds when appropriate
  • Attend local social clubs, cultivating long-term relationships with current and potential ministry partners
  • Engage with local churches, making presentations and raising awareness of New Hope’s impact
  • Forge new relationships with prospective donors, connecting them with New Hope’s mission, volunteer opportunities, and staff members
  • Regularly write personal thank you notes and make phone calls to show appreciation to New Hope donors
  • Facilitate tours for interested donors
  • Chair the Board Development Committee meetings
  • Engage Board of Directors as appropriate to facilitate new relationships with potential New Hope partners
  • In concert with the Executive Director, establish an annual mutually agreed upon performance metrics that are realistic and measurable
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Meet weekly with Executive Director
  • Participate in annual strategic planning retreat

Skills

Skills and qualifications needed for this position include:

  • Exceptional leadership skills to effectively lead managers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Planning and organization skills to facilitate goal-setting
  • Innovative mindset to create new initiatives

Qualifications

  • BA (required), MA (a plus)
  • Five-plus years experience in development, including at least 2 years in a management role. A master’s degree in an appropriate field may be counted towards experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills

Working Agreement

  • Full-time position
  • Hybrid schedule
  • Upon hiring, employees are eligible for 10 PTO Days, Sick Days and 15 or more observed paid holidays
  • Mileage reimbursement based on IRS rate
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
