Job Title: Senior Managing Director of Development

Job Summary:

The Senior Managing Director of Development will report to the Executive Director of the Missouri Territory and will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the territory. This includes supervising a team of development officers, managing prospect portfolios, and working with the Executive Director to achieve annual fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of development officers, including assignment, movement, and evaluation of prospect portfolios
  • Support and hold gift officers accountable for their annual metrics
  • Assist the Executive Director in overseeing and coordinating the entire fundraising effort in the territory, including principal gifts, planned giving, and individual giving
  • Help create and foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork that celebrates outcomes, builds individual and team capacity, and ensures that WashU UA is a preferred workplace
  • Manage a small donor caseload and travel within Missouri for development officer support and events
  • Work with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Individual Giving team and Executive Director to create and monitor an annual budget for team travel and professional development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in development, preferably in a complex university or national non-profit organization
  • Significant personal involvement with major gift solicitation and capital prospect management
  • Significant supervisory experience, including professional and support staff
  • Demonstrated expertise with personal solicitations and the capital gift process
  • Familiarity with modern university capital gift techniques
