Haliburton International Foods, Inc. is seeking attention to detail, seasoned analytical, trustworthy Payroll/Benefits Specialist to join the HR team in Ontario, CA.

This role will perform all payroll which includes intensive transfer functionality within the Paycom platform. In addition, manage the employee's timekeeping as well as maintaining the Daily OT analysis to Senior Management. Secondary responsibility is all benefits which includes coordinating with the Human Resource Manager during the Open Enrollment process while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. Provide administrative support of day-to-day Human Resources operations (including payroll, training, safety, benefits, recruitment, etc.).

Summary

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for performing all payroll and benefit functions while ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local laws. Provide administrative support of day to day Human Resources operations (including payroll, training, safety, benefits, recruitment, etc.).

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities

  • Perform bi-weekly payroll processing, deductions, payments, adjustments, analytical review, audit and reconciliation
  • Maintain time keeping system; communicate and correct hours as necessary; import hours into payroll every pay period.
  • Compile and analyze payroll reports, such as OT, CA lunch penalties, etc.
  • Maintain Human Resources Information System (Paycom) records and compile reports from system as needed or requested.
  • Distribute checks on pay date along with any other company communication.
  • Process employment verifications, unemployment and disability claims, personnel action forms, garnishments, payroll deductions, direct deposits etc.
  • Conduct new hire benefit orientation and benefit enrollments.
  • Administers various employee benefits programs including group health, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, dental and vision benefits.
  • Verify I-9 documentation, perform E-Verify checks, and maintain I-9 documentation current (monitoring expiration dates, etc.).
  • Process enrollment documents and ensure accurate file feeds to benefit carriers.
  • Review and reconcile monthly billings from insurance providers for accuracy, resolve discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the employees. Coordinate with insurance companies to resolve employee insurance issues.
  • Assist department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees.
  • Assist in administration of compensation program.
  • Assist in organizational training and development efforts.
  • Make photocopies, fax documents and perform other administrative and transactional duties.
  • Scan documents into appropriate employee or benefit files and maintain files.
  • Assist or prepare correspondence related to payroll or benefits.
  • Assists with daily HR department functions and projects as needed.
  • Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests, assist employees with questions/issues regarding payroll, benefits and HR processes and procedures
  • Remains current on all government regulations involving payroll and benefits, including Fair Labor Standards Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA and other statutory regulations.
  • Follow GMP rules and safety rules.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Human Resources is preferred
  • A minimum of three years of payroll/benefits administration experience is required
  • Broad knowledge of HR regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations such as ERISA, FMLA, ACA and COBRA
  • Be able to work independently and multitask when needed.
  • Excellent communication skills including: interpersonal, verbal, and written.
  • Having a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Demonstrates high level customer service skills
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Paycom highly preferred

Physical Demands/work environment

Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and withstand strong odors from the foods being processed. Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer workstation; using hands and motor skills on a frequent basis for functions such as keyboard data entry input; clear vision to read and interpret documents, reports, and information on a computer screen, etc
