Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing supervisory support to all areas of quality control during production. Will be responsible for schedules of quality control technicians. Provide training of quality control procedures to QC techs and production staff. Assist in investigating customer complaints and summarize findings for continuous improvement. Monitor new products and processes for control points and provide detailed reports and trainings.

Principal Duties:

- Schedule, train, guide, monitor and discipline QC Leads and Technicians.

- Provide support to QCs as needed

- Report daily QC functions and/or incidents in production meetings.

- Review batch sheets and pre-op inspections on a daily basis to ensure complete, accurate records and specification compliance.

- Ensure proper disposition of Hold items and coordinate documented evaluation for fast disposition. Prepare weekly report of Hold/Release items update.

- Develop and review SOPs relevant to production processes, product specifications and material handling.

- Participate in manufacturing meetings on new products and processes and ensures proper communication and training to all QC leads and technicians. Be present at all new plant productions to monitor and record key steps for food safety and quality. Provide summary to upper management and trainings to QC techs.

- Evaluate production processes to reduce non-conforming products and eliminate Hold inventory.

- Develop quality control procedures and analyze data from inspection reports.

- Participate and assist in customer complaint resolution and corrective action implementation.

- Create and summarize incident reports for upper management review.

- Interact with FDA and USDA inspectors in a professional manner and communicate observations and requests.

- Prepare state inspection documentation.

- Provide performance reviews to upper management.

- Create COAs as needed.

- Demonstrate knowledge and perform duties of QC Tech II as needed.

- Report to work as scheduled; be on time from lunch, breaks, and at the beginning of the shift

- Follow the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and enforce them with all employees, as well as the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Safety purposes

Education, Prior Work Experience/Specialized Skills and Knowledge:

- 10 years in Quality Control in a food manufacturing facility with 2 years of supervisory experience or

- 5-10 years’ experience in a lead Quality control position for a food manufacturing facility and high school diploma (or equivalent) or

- 2-5 years’ experience in Quality control for a food manufacturing facility and minimum BS in a science major.

- SQF/GFSI Certification a plus

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, E-mail, internet etc.) computer-based programs.

- Must have the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

- HACCP certified a plus

- Demonstrate full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices policies, Good Laboratory practices and procedures

- Very Good mathematical skills required.

- Able to follow written or verbal instructions

- Demonstrate good communication skills

Essential Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged Standing/Walking - 90%

- Climbing, Crawling, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting (50 lbs.) - 20%

- Finger-Hand Manipulation (e.g. 10-key, typing) - 15%

- Prolonged VDT use (Video Display Terminal) - 5%

- Able to distinguish colors.

- Able to withstand strong odors from the foods being processed.

- Able to work in a high-paced, hot and cold environment for short periods of time.
