Overview The Payroll Manager is integral in optimizing payroll processes, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of development and governance. As a forward-thinking leader, the Payroll Manager will be pivotal in shaping the payroll function to not only meet current demands but also anticipate future needs and challenges. This role, you will not only manage payroll processes but also be instrumental in shaping the future direction of the payroll function through continuous improvement, strategic alignment, and team development.
Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement: Lead the ongoing enhancement of payroll systems and procedures. Identify and implement innovative solutions to streamline payroll processes, improve efficiency, and adapt to changing regulations.
Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with HR, finance, and accounting teams to align payroll operations with organizational goals. Play an active role in strategic planning and execution, ensuring that payroll practices support overall business objectives.
Team Development: Supervise, mentor, and develop the payroll team, fostering a culture of growth and excellence. Provide coaching and training to enhance team skills and performance.
Compliance and Governance: Ensure rigorous adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations. Maintain robust governance practices to safeguard financial integrity and data confidentiality.
System Coordination: Oversee the integration and management of timekeeping systems and handle payroll adjustments, including new hires, terminations, and salary changes.
Data Analysis: Prepare and analyze payroll reports to provide actionable insights and support decision-making processes.
Issue Resolution: Address payroll discrepancies and resolve employee inquiries with efficiency and professionalism.
Audit Liaison: Serve as the point of contact for auditors during payroll and or tax audits, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation. Subject to the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and Ajinomoto Food's HIPAA Privacy and Security policies and procedures, assisting the Ajinomoto Food health plan with day-to-day activities involving protected health information, including but not limited to, assisting with employee claims, coordinating benefits, determining health claim status, determining eligibility for coverage, budgeting and renewal, billing and collection activities, obtaining assistance from third-parties for plan functions, and any other duties delegated by the HIPAA Privacy or Security Officer.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field.
5 -7 years of progressive experience in payroll management or a similar role.
Professional certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
Expertise in payroll processes, labor laws, and tax regulations.
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Ultipro) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and strategic initiatives.
Strong leadership and team development skills with a focus on mentorship and growth.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in managing complex payroll data.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with multi-state payroll processing and knowledge of accounting principles related to payroll.
Range - $100,000 to $120,000
