Introduction
Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Insurance Operations and Accounting Assistant  position. This position is to be a contract to hire opportunity, however a strong candidate may be considered for direct hire from start.  This position will be on-site in the Longwood, FL area.


Summary

The Insurance Operations and Accounting Assistant will be responsible for working directly with the Office Manager, to provide daily assistance with all daily administrative tasks related to the Accounting and Operations of this insurance agency. This is a long-term career opportunity, with strong potential of transition to Office Management role in future years.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Understands accounting workflow to handle day-to-day financial transactions involving accounts receivable, accounts payable, commission posting and manual journal entries; assists in reconciliation of bank statements, preparation and review of monthly financial statements
  • Coordinates activities and helps serve as liaison with phone vendor, third party IT vendor, etc. to resolve issues or assist with onboarding new staff members
  • Procures office and computer equipment supplies
  • Helps track agency personnel and non-resident licensure
  • Expands knowledge to serve as backup to Financial & Office Manager

Qualifications and Experience:   

  • Associates of Arts degree with focus in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • Small business accounting skills, experience and knowledge; 2-3 years preferred
  • Experience with payroll and human resources related responsibilities preferred
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Must be detail-oriented with ability to handle volume, multi-tasking and distractions
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks fully supporting agency personnel with operational and accounting functions
  • Must be resourceful, work independently and effectively within a team environment both on-site and remotely
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Possesses both verbal and written communication skills
