We are seeking a Civil Project Manager to join the Mainstay Engineering Team.

ROLE SUMMARY: CIVIL PROJECT MANAGER

As a Civil Engineer Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing various projects across a wide range of industries, ensuring sound civil engineering / site design, compliance with regulations, and completion within both scheduling and budget constraints. You will work with a team of engineers and cross functional professionals, coordinating their efforts to deliver high-quality results, within budget and on time.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR CIVIL ENGINEER PROJECT MANAGER

1. Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, other engineering disciplines and stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Create detailed schedules and budgets, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations.

2. Civil Engineering Analysis:
- As needed, conduct or guide staff in civil analysis and assessments to ensure designs meet safety standards, local/state and federal codes and are in compliance with acceptable regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering team to develop innovative and efficient solutions.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications.

3. Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, drafters, and other project staff.
- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring each team member understands their responsibilities and deadlines.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, encouraging creativity and professional growth.

4. Quality Control and Assurance:
- Implement quality control measures to ensure construction materials and methods meet industry standards and project specifications.
- Conduct periodic site inspections and audits to identify and address any issues or deviations from plans.
- Review and approve project deliverables to ensure accuracy and adherence to design requirements.

5. Client Communication and Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress, budget, and any potential risks or challenges.
- Proactively address client concerns and inquiries in a timely and professional manner, striving to exceed expectations and maintain positive relationships.
- Identify opportunities for additional services or future collaboration with clients.

6. Risk Management and Problem-Solving:
- Identify potential risks and obstacles to project success, developing mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
- Proactively resolve conflicts or issues that arise during the construction process, seeking input from stakeholders as needed.
- Adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks effectively to keep projects on track.

7. Financial Management

- Work with project accounting to ensure accounts receivable, for your projects, are collected in a timely manner in accordance with contract payment terms.

- Continuously monitor project budgets and manage work to remain within budget. Responsible for the delivery of projects, for yourself and within your team, on budget.

- Ensure written authorization and executed contracts have been received before starting work or a variance from this policy has been approved by the Senior Principal or CEO.

- Contributes towards organization’s  target revenue, profit, and sales targets for the fiscal year.

- Meet or exceed utilization goals for technical staff, project managers and yourself

8. Business Development (up to 20% of time)

- Continuously developing and winning work with new and existing clients

- Assists Director and/or Principal with developing business with assigned clients

- Prepare proposals, including scopes, schedules, and fees.

- Actively participate in industry events and conferences

DECISION MAKING AND INFLUENCE

1. Participate in leadership meetings

2. Input to colleague annual reviews, and 1:1's, in addition to mentoring engineering talent

3. Develop key relationships with existing and new clients

4. Represent Mainstay in the external market

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Essential:

1. Experience in Civil Engineering and Project Management

2. BS or above from an ABET accredited program in Civil Engineering or similar discipline (essential).

3. 7-10 years (min) of work experience as an engineer in land development or similar (essential).

4. Experience in developing, mentoring, and leading engineers (essential)

5. Holds a current PE license (essential)

6. Proficient experience in project management.

7. Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.

8. Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines.

9. Timely and professional response to internal communications.

10. Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

11. Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.

12. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Can conduct site visits as required by clients/partners

· Frequently display a general learning ability while understanding & following oral and/or written instruction

· Continuously comprehend and understand meanings of words and ideas associated with them

· Frequently use hands to handle, reach, feel and type

· Frequently walk, stand, and sit

· Specific vision requirements include adjusting focus, both close & distance vision, in addition to color vision

· Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
