Job DescriptionJob Description

SRCC Recycling Program Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of the complete program and expanding the program into new markets to reach financial, social, environmental and program goals as well as helping the Corpsmembers grow and become all that they can be.

The Recycling Program Coordinator must be a dynamic, creative, goal oriented, organized leader who can manage grant funding, take responsibility for maintaining the SRCC Recycling Center facility and a fleet of recycling trucks and equipment while motivating the Recycling Program Staff. The coordinator and staff will in turn need to train and mentor the Corpsmembers (participants, between the ages of 18-26) about recycling, conservation, environmental justice, and overall work ethic, preparing them for future employment opportunities.

Job Duties

  • Manages our annual grant including proposal submissions, record keeping, and reporting, in conjunction with the Recycling Analyst.
  • Develop effective and efficient recycling programs that comply with CalRecycle funding guidelines, currently focused on beverage containers, waste oil, used tires, E-waste, and mattress recycling.
  • Identify, Research, and Designs programs to maximize returns for recyclables collected.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state and local government agencies, recycling organizations and community organizations.
  • Evaluates the recycling programs, tracks, and documents results. Monitors and modifies programs to ensure that they are completed within approved budgets and timelines, meeting, or exceeding program goals.
  • Manage Recycling staff & Corpsmembers assigned to the Recycling Program (up to 30).
  • Provides certifications and training programs.
  • Ensures that Corpsmembers are connected to SRCC support services, facilitated by the Deputy Director of Operations and the Case Manager.
  • Ensures that all Recycling Program components are carried out safely.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • College degree required (AA or Higher)
  • Management/Supervisory experience
  • Grant management experience preferred
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Power Point, and Google docs
  • Possess a California Class C driver’s license and encouraged to obtain a “passenger endorsement” and approval of driving record by SRCC’s insurance underwriter.
  • Pass a drug screen test
  • Commitment to the positive development of young adults.
