Job Overview

The Sustainability Program Coordinator at SRCC is tasked with the creation and oversight of a comprehensive recycling initiative, aimed at broadening its reach into new sectors while achieving financial, social, and environmental objectives. This role is pivotal in fostering the growth of Corpsmembers, empowering them to realize their full potential.

The ideal candidate will be an innovative, goal-driven, and organized leader capable of managing grant resources, overseeing the SRCC Recycling Center, and maintaining a fleet of recycling vehicles and equipment. Additionally, the coordinator will inspire and guide the Recycling Program Staff, who in turn will mentor Corpsmembers on essential topics such as recycling practices, conservation efforts, environmental justice, and professional work ethics, preparing them for future career opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the annual grant process, including proposal submissions, record maintenance, and reporting, in collaboration with the Recycling Analyst.
  • Design and implement effective recycling initiatives that align with CalRecycle funding criteria, focusing on materials such as beverage containers, waste oil, used tires, e-waste, and mattress recycling.
  • Conduct research and develop programs to optimize the financial returns from collected recyclables.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with state and local government entities, recycling organizations, and community groups.
  • Assess recycling initiatives, monitor progress, and document outcomes. Adjust programs as necessary to ensure adherence to approved budgets and timelines, striving to meet or exceed program objectives.
  • Supervise Recycling staff and Corpsmembers assigned to the program (up to 30 individuals).
  • Facilitate training and certification programs.
  • Connect Corpsmembers with SRCC support services, coordinated by the Deputy Director of Operations and the Case Manager.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Recycling Program are executed safely and effectively.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Associate's degree or higher is required.
  • Experience in management or supervisory roles.
  • Preferred experience in grant management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
  • Possession of a California Class C driver's license; obtaining a passenger endorsement is encouraged, subject to approval by SRCC's insurance underwriter.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening test.
  • Dedication to the positive development of young adults.

Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
