Job Overview:   The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing grants and services for the IRC Sacramentoâs youth programs, including staff supervision across all in-school youth programs. Specifically, the Youth Program Coordinator provides direct team support, creates development plans, and ensures youth services staff are trained and able to provide strong 1-1 and cohort based client services and community intervention efforts. In addition, the Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring program compliance, meeting programmatic outcomes, and building strong relationships with community schools. The position reports to the Youth and Education Program Manager.

 

Major Responsibilities: 

Program Operations

  • Liaise with IRC Technical Advisors to ensure effective program delivery by utilizing available resources and best practice models within the IRC field office network
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of youth services data to donors and all relevant parties
  • Track and report on key outcomes and objectives as outlined for each program area. Effectively communicate outcomes to staff to ensure program goals are met
  • Oversee the direct services budget to ensure timely spend-down of youth services funds
  • Work with the youth services team to ensure all services meet compliance standards and are documented via ETO 
  • Ensure will program supplies are ordered and accounted for in a timely manner

Outreach and Enrollment

  • Build partnerships with school districts, schools, and staff to ensure working partnerships, administrative logistics, and referral systems are implemented for in school youth
  • Expand programming to middle schools through networking and listening sessions
  • Create evidence-based program curriculum for expanding programs based on client needs
  • Lead all partnership development efforts to connect clients with high quality trainings and wraparound services families need within the community
  • Represent the youth programs within the IRC network, in conferences, working groups, communities of practice calls, sharing the creation of client success stories, and other opportunities when available
  • Oversee the recruitment of refugee youth into leadership opportunities to regularly support refugee peers and inform the direction of the youth services IRC Sacramento provides

Staff Supervision and Onboarding

  • Develop and enhance in school curricula and offerings for youth programming and leadership development and modify on an ongoing basis
  • Implement technical assessments to gauge client strengths, weaknesses, and proficiencies
  • Create surveys to measure knowledge and social emotion gains made through IRC programs
  • Recruit and oversee skilled volunteers, community members, and professional speakers to support youth programs as mentors and presenters
  • Provide positive supervision of up to four employees, including daily administration, support and performance reviews
  • Complete administrative responsibilities including tracking time and effort, annual development of professional goals, and the 90 day onboarding plan
  • Participate in and lead program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team
  • Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency
  • Seek out and identify scholarships and other support opportunities to help clients with short and long term goals
  • Network extensively with partners in the community to seek additional support clients may need outside of IRC
  • Support school enrollments, home visits, and Youth Cultural Orientation ensuring newly arrived families are enrolled into school and connected to adequate resources 
  • Document client participation and progress, adhering to grant requirements
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, inclusion, and cohesion in IRC Sacramento
  • Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies

 

Key Working Relationships:

Position directly supervises: In-School Youth Specialists, Youth Case Aides

Internal and/or external contacts: Coordinates regularly with Community Engagement team

 

Job Requirements: 

Education: 

  • Bachelorâs degree or relevant work experience required[LJ1] ; Masterâs degree a plus

Work Experience: 

  • 2-3 yearsâ experience working with refugee youth strongly preferred
  • 2-3 yearsâ experience with youth counseling, case management, or coaching strongly preferred 
  • 2-3 yearsâ experience with working with refugee populations inside of schools strongly preferred
  • 2-3 yearsâ experience working in or managing grant funded programs

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills required
  • Multi-cultural experience and demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation creation
  • Proven ability to take initiative, creatively problem solve and lead with versatility in a fast-paced work environment 
  • Ability to engage youth from vulnerable backgrounds including refugee youth in long-term service delivery 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience using data and fiscal tracking systems strongly preferred
  • Grant writing skills strongly preferred
  • Flexible availability necessary

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
