Job Posting

Certified Recovery Specialist

Passages to Recovery, Inc. (Passages), a non-profit organization in Pittsburgh PA, provides recovery-based services that focus on substance use while addressing contributing factors of trauma, mental health, and family systems. We have been helping people rebuild their lives since 1976, and our residential inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services are needed now more than ever.

We’re looking for a qualified individual with lived experience to provide community-based peer recovery support services to people who are contemplating or are actively engaged in recovery from substance use disorder. In this position, you’ll serve as a role model, advocate, navigator and motivator to individuals who self-identify as being in recovery, and to their family members who also wish to receive peer supports. You’ll share your personal recovery experience as appropriate, and provide a variety of forms of assistance which may include harm reduction, diverse recovery pathways, and sustainable long-term recovery. In peer-to-peer supports, the relationship is the intervention.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including health, dental, life insurance, paid time off, retirement plan, and opportunities for advancement. This is a full-time field position based in our Swissvale offices, which have free parking and easy access to the Parkway (Interstate 376). Contact us if you meet the requirements outlined below and are interested in joining our team:

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Use recognized engagement techniques to help clients identify and prioritize needs and strengths.
  • Help clients develop and execute an individualized action plan, smoothing the transition from clinical treatment to personally directed, community supported recovery maintenance.
  • Identify emergency or crisis situations, and facilitate access to appropriate resources and systems.
  • Provide a range of personal supports to clients, as indicated, from individual coaching and skills development to psychoeducational groups and job readiness assistance.
  • Collaborate with community institutions to identify and recruit clients.
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality required by all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Maintain electronic program records, logs, and reports in appropriate files and databases.

MUST HAVES:

  • Current certification as a PA Certified Recovery Specialist and/or Certified Family Recovery Specialist (CRS) or be eligible to obtain CRS certifications within six months of hire.
  • At least one year of experience working in community-based recovery settings.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured personal transportation.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite and videoconferencing applications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Effective, empathetic and non-judgmental communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Able and willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Able to obtain current ACT 33 & 34 Clearances, and additional clearances as required.
