POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides customer support by providing training, responding to requests, and resolving issues both on-site and on the telephone.
  • Discuss and plan special events like truckload meat sales, produce tent sales and track the effectiveness of these events.
  • Adjust displays for the time of year and seasonality.
  • Promote contests to build excitement within departments.
  • Identifies potential new sales opportunities, in existing accounts, by assessing needs, trends and explaining products and options.
  • Sells to and maintains contact with existing accounts and promotes positive relations with AGNE. Promotes the value of company products to expand account(s) to meet and/or exceed goals.
  • Establishes rapport and maintains contact with potential new accounts.
  • Participates and assists accounts in preparation of resets and/or remodeling.
  • Develops and supervises the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs to new and existing accounts.
  • Identify, diagnose & respond to specific account needs to enhance customer service & satisfaction.
  • Sells merchandise and equipment; advises customers on merchandise plans, price and promotions. Provides insight on fees and services. Assists customers in the ordering of programs.
  • Interacts with management, internal departments and warehouse for information and problem resolution to ensure account/customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in the development of sales goals and objectives for AGNE. Recommends, implements, and administers a sales plan to enhance sales.
  • Communicates, to the retailer, market and product trends and developments.
  • Regular communication with retailers in between site visits
  • Plan and execute the frequency of visits as outlined by Perishable Sales Manager
  • Plan and execute the sales call plan to better utilize the time in store
  • Reviews warehouse sales numbers, weekly, to identify areas of opportunity and sales gaps
  • Prepares a variety of sales reports, including performance trends, gap analysis and sales plan performance. Reports on special developments, competitive information, trends and/or other feedback gathered through field activity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED plus 3 to 5 years of experience in perishable area.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in the use Microsoft Office and related software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of retail sales principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is a requirement for the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequent travel within assigned territory is required.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Work involves some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Company DescriptionAssociated Grocers of New England, Inc., was organized in February 1946 by an enterprising group of 18 Independent Retailers who resolved to form a company with greater purchasing power than they could realize individually. It first operated as New Hampshire Wholesale Grocers in an 18,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Concord, New Hampshire. From the start, these retailers recognized an opportunity to build upon their own mutual strength. It wasn't long until they changed the operating structure of the company to form a purchasing and distribution cooperative known as Associated Grocers of New England, Inc.

In 2006, the current, state of the art, 380,000 square foot Distribution Center constructed on 74 acres in Pembroke, New Hampshire became AG New England's home. The design of this new facility effectively doubled the capacity to expand and enhance product offerings. The property allows for future building expansion to upwards of 650,000 square feet.

This impressive facility offers retailers an expansive variety of products as well as retail support services such as advertising, marketing, merchandising, store design, equipment, bookkeeping and retail systems.
