Real Estate Senior Associate

Overview/Purpose:

 

The Real Estate Senior Associate will support the development and implementation of real estate strategy to align our priorities and mission while optimizing property use and value.  This includes negotiating land and building sales, lease documents, operating agreements as well as managing the needs of the existing portfolio.  This role works within a small group of dedicated real estate professionals and reports directly to the Associate Director of Real Estate.  The team is responsible for all matters related to the ownership of over 1,500 buildings and land parcels. The role’s primary responsibility is to assist parishes and other entities with their real estate related needs.  The Senior Associate will work under the guidance of the Director and Associate Directors on property dispositions, structuring of leases, and portfolio management.

 

Reports to:   Associate Director of Real Estate 

 

Responsibilities:

·      Review and assess due diligence materials, including title, survey and zoning analysis, to assess viability of properties for market. 

·      Manage project tracking and prepare written narratives of project status and approvals. 

·      Negotiate and structure property dispositions, new leases, and lease renewal agreements, assessing them to ensure competitiveness with the local market.

·      Address communications to Parish leadership, tenants, and other stakeholders with a service-oriented attitude; build and maintain relationships.

·      Build and maintain detailed knowledge of real estate market values and trends

·      Establish and maintain relationships with real estate professionals knowledgeable about the leasing and sales markets in our various geographic markets.

·      Draft succinct, clear reports and analysis of deal opportunities, market conditions, and development potentials.

·      Support portfolio-wide management by establishing and/or maintaining tracking data and supporting other departmental needs.

 

 

Education, Experience, and Skills:

·      6+ years of relevant commercial real estate or similar experience.

·      Knowledge of commercial real estate practices, including a general understanding of deal flows, zoning and land use policy, analyses of survey, review of appraisals and title, and implications of public processes such as environmental and historic review.

·      Ability to independently operate and self-motivate to problem solve.

·      Collaborative interpersonal skills with genuine interest in building and maintaining relationships

·      Strong writing skills with the ability to prepare detailed, professional documents, and prepare formal written correspondence

·      Project management, multitasking, and organization skills.

·      Degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Law, Business, or related field preferred.

·      Experience in the commercial real estate sector, project management, asset management, investment sales, lease negotiation, and/or other relevant expertise will be useful. 

·      Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel.
