Local Area Accounting Firm

Accounting Bookkeeper/Assistant

Permanent Position

Hours: Part Time Flexible Hours or Full Time (32-40 Hours)
Overtime: Yes (Determined By Employer)

Job Duties:

  • Answering Telephone
  • Appointment Scheduling
  • Filing
  • Preparation of Monthly Bank Reconciliations Statements
  • Double Entry Bookkeeping
  • Prepare Monthly Journal Entries on Both Accrual & Cash Methods
  • Accounts Payable and Disbursements
  • Accounts Receivable and Collections
  • Month-End Account Closings and Preparation of Trial Balance
  • Preparation of Monthly Financial Statements
  • Payrolls and Related Reporting Requirements
  • Sales Tax Preparation
  • Assumption of Other Duties on an as Needed Basis

Qualifications:

  • 2 or 4 Year Accounting or (Accounting Related Degree).
  • 1+ Years Experience in Accounting/Bookkeeping in a Professional Environment a Plus.
  • Public Accounting Experience a Plus
  • Excellent Computer Skills Including
    • Proficiency with Windows operating system
    • Proficiency in Data Input
    • Excel Spreadsheet Proficiency
    • Microsoft Word Proficiency
    • Email Correspondence Proficiency
  • Adaptable

The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties as needed to this position.

Availability for 1-2.5 hours overtime 5+ days per month.

Applicants must also be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident alien status.

Mental & Physical Demands of the Job:

  • Must be able to sit for up to eight (8) hours in order to perform all type of job duties and responsibilities.
  • Must possess adequate vision to assure accuracy in the tasks and duties of this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to speak in a manner to properly communicate with management, staff and clients.
  • Must be able to receive and place telephone calls in a professional manner, according to company policy.
  • Must be able to physically maneuver throughout the general office areas to perform the tasks and duties of the position.
  • Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time, paying attention to details.
  • Must be able to constantly maintain a stationary position behind a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to use fingers bilaterally and unilaterally.
  • Must be able to have corrected hearing to listen to:
    a. The needs and direction from management;
    b. The needs of employees; and
    c. The environment to be aware of surroundings.
  • Must not be short-tempered and must be slow to anger and able to respond in a calm demeanor in stressful situations such as dealing with co-workers and clients who may be distressed due to their unique situations, dissatisfied or in case of emergencies.
  • Must not be impaired in anyway due to:
    a. the use of drugs (legal or illegal),
    b. alcohol use, or
    c. in any other way,
    which may affect the employee’s ability to act and/or react in a manner that will ensure their safety, the safety of other employees and the assets of the company.

The job requires a mature individual with problem solving ability. The job also requires the ability to perform with minimal supervision after the initial training period. Accuracy is mandatory.
