We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Specialist to join our finance team. This role combines the responsibilities of Accounting, Finance Analyst, and Accounts Payable, providing a comprehensive foundation for a career in finance. The ideal candidate will assist in various accounting and financial tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.  

General Responsibilities: 

  • Financial Transactions: Recording day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments using accounting software or spreadsheets. 

  • Accounts Receivable/Payable: Handling accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, which involve issuing invoices, tracking payments, and ensuring timely collections and payments to vendors. 

  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconciling bank statements with the general ledger to ensure accuracy and identifying any discrepancies that need to be addressed. 

  • General Ledger Maintenance: Assisting in the preparation of financial statements by maintaining and reconciling balance sheet accounts and general ledger accounts. 

  • Journal Entries: Posting journal entries for accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, and revenue recognition based on supporting documents and management instructions. 

  • Financial Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of various financial reports such as monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as ad-hoc reports for management. 

  • Auditing Support: Providing support during audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and explanations of transactions and accounts as requested by auditors. 

  • Tax Preparation: Assisting with tax filings and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax requirements, including preparing tax returns and supporting schedules. 

  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements. 

  • Data Analysis: Analyzing financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements. 

  • Software and Systems: Utilizing accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems effectively to perform duties and generate reports. 

  • Communication: Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to gather information, resolve issues, and provide support as needed. 

  • Professional Development: Staying updated on accounting principles, practices, and regulations through ongoing professional development and training. 

  • Administrative Support: Providing general administrative support to the accounting department, such as filing documents, maintaining records, and responding to inquiries. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, or a related field. 

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting processes. 

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare basic financial reports. 

Ideal Traits: 

  • Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). 

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting. 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, and vendors professionally. 

  • Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others in the finance department and across different departments. 

  • Understanding of ethical standards and practices in accounting and finance. 

  • Ability to identify issues, research discrepancies, and propose solutions. 

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changes in accounting regulations, processes, and software.
