Job DescriptionJob Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Front of House Representative position is a part-time role overseeing the concert experience and volunteer staff at the San Diego Symphony Orchestra Association’s events and performances held at Jacobs Music Center, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, and other venues where the San Diego Symphony performs.

Reporting to House Managers and the Director of Guest Experience, this position is responsible for ensuring that performance venues are a welcoming and vibrant space for audiences and that the volunteer program provides the breadth and depth of staff resources to meet the varied needs of the organization. Front of House Representatives are responsible for ensuring that venues comply with health, safety, and ADA requirements and deliver a high-quality and responsive customer service experience at 150+ events annually. This position offers the opportunity to be an integral part of a team that provides an exceptional cultural experience in keeping with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra Association’s Tier 1 designation where exceptional service is paramount.

Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exemplify positive and engaging customer service characteristics in all interactions with patrons, artists, volunteers, and fellow co-workers.
  • Greet patrons attending events, assist with seating, and quickly expedite issues with grace.
  • Assist patrons with disabilities.
  • Provide accurate information about an event or venue upon request, including directions within and outside of venues.
  • Work with Security officers to maintain access control to performance areas and assist patrons at all security check points, including ticket scanning, line management, and crowd control measures.
  • Distribute event materials to patrons as needed.
  • Notify supervisory staff and/or security staff of any emergency situations immediately as they occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven customer service experience.
  • Enthusiasm, with an engaging personality and exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiar with touchscreen smart phone devices and app navigation.
  • Flexible availability is a must, including being able to work during matinee, evening, and weekend performances.
  • Ability to stand for varying periods of time and work outdoors in varying weather conditions; such requirements to be performed either with or without reasonable accommodation.

Benefits

Pay Rate: $16.85/hour
