Position Summary

Responsible for performing a variety of member transactions, opening new accounts, and originating consumer loans in an accurate, timely and confidential manner while providing exceptional member service. Establish and/or strengthen member relationships by providing information on credit union services, via in person, outbound/inbound calls, and online channels. Identify and act on cross-sales and referral opportunities. Promote and participate in a sales and service culture which endorses Orlando Credit Union’s mission of exceeding member expectations. Utilize more advanced needs-based sales skills to ensure member satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act including, Customer identification Program, customer due diligence, identifying high risk accounts, reporting suspicious activities to Supervisor or other credit union leadership.
    • Responsible and accountable for performing all Loan Officer functions with an emphasis on loan origination and new accounts.
    • Accountable for originating consumer loans to include but not be limited to meeting with current and prospective members, conducting consumer loan application interviews, completing consumer loan applications, reviewing credit reports, submitting consumer loan recommendations for approval/denial, and facilitating consumer loan closings.
    • Actively promote marketing campaigns and promotions by educating members of their benefits and value and making recommendations based on the members' financial needs including outbound phone calls.
    • Using needs-based sales techniques, discuss all products that could potentially deepen a member’s relationship with the credit union and provide greater financial value to the member. Offer and explain ancillary products to include but not be limited to: Credit Life and Disability, GAP and MBI, so that the member realizes the benefit of the product or service.
    • Open all types of new accounts and loans completing necessary paperwork and applications for each. Follow up on all member items needed to complete applications and fund loans through pipeline management. Follow through on all member inquiries and requests. Promptly resolving exceptions identified through quality control audits and initiating steps to reduce future exceptions.
    • Responsible for completing daily, weekly, or monthly production reports to include but not be limited to the number of accounts opened and closed, approved, and funded loans, URA’s, ancillary products sold and loan reports, CTR or SAR documentation.
    • Maintain the safety of the branch by adhering to established safety guidelines; assist and follow established branch opening and closing procedures; adhere to member verification procedures. Perform nightly sweeps to verify all member information is secure and office alarm testing. Utilizing dual control at all times.
    • Accountable for control and security of cash, negotiable instruments, member information, and branch equipment.
    • Maintain knowledge and adhere to the policies and procedures of Orlando Credit Union products and services as they relate to the position, including membership qualifications, account information, negotiable instruments, endorsements, consumer lending, credit card accounts, including legal documentation, state and federal laws and regulations. Accountable for complying with and following all credit union policies, procedures, and government regulations.
    • Support the Credit Union's culture of compliance by understanding and complying with all federal and state regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC as applicable, including but not limited to adherence with BSA/AML and OFAC policies and procedures regarding large currency transactions, monetary instruments, wire transfers, member identification, OFAC screening, the completion of training, and reporting suspicious activity to the BSA Officer.
    • Process and decision consumer lending applications as needed in a timely manner, ensuring that credit decisions are made in alignment with Credit Union policies, procedures, and lending philosophy. Approves loans only within their current lending authority and refers to recommendation requests for amounts exceeding authority limits. Processed loans are set up accurately and funding is prompt and efficient.
    • Interview members to determine the best products for members’ needs. Assist in obtaining information for timely processing of all loans. Verify supporting documentation related to the application.
    • Recognize and take advantage of cross sell opportunities for Credit Union products and services. Offers potential cross-sale loan opportunities to current qualified loan applicants.
    • Must exhibit a good working knowledge of the current loan origination and core processing system.
    • Respond promptly to member inquiries with regards to loans in process and new loan opportunities.
    • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws, and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Maintain knowledge of all Federal and applicable consumer lending regulations and maintaining policies and procedures.
    • As required, may provide support in the training of new team members.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma or education degree (GED) required.
  • Required 3 years loan origination experience with another financial institution or be employed by OFCU for a minimum of 2 years.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in person, over the phone, and in writing including through electronic channels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with individuals and groups at all levels both within and outside the Credit Union.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills with a high level of initiative, responsibility, and accountability, including flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.

Abilities

  • Ability to recognize member financial needs and to effectively cross-sell products and services.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of credit union products and services and in-depth knowledge of loan products.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be bondable and possess an NMLS - Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System designation.
