Who We Are:

The Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter (the Shelter) is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty for families facing homelessness by building pathways to long-term self-sufficiency. Since 1986, the Shelter has provided quality early childhood education and family services, free of charge, to address the needs of the entire family.

About the Role: Responsible for managing and providing comprehensive support services for families facing homelessness both currently enrolled families and those participating in the Atlanta Children’s Shelter Steps2Success Program, (S2S).The Family Services Manager will collaborate with Family Services Director in implementing new initiative. Additionally, this position will supervise the Case Manager and oversee program enrollment and discharge.

Program Management

  • Manage the Family Services Case Manager
  • Assist and collaborate on development of new program initiatives.
  • Manage department in absence of Director of Family Services. Participate in building annual program budget.
  • Facilitate mentoring program.
  • Recruit, mentor, onboard, and support Bachelor and Master of Social Work interns.
  • Communicate with collegiate programs, conduct evaluations, and address intern issues.
  • Participate in determining policies on participant eligibility, program requirements and benefits.
  • Assist Director of Family Services fulfilling strategic objectives set by Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Implement and maintain effective data management systems tracking program outcomes and client progress.
  • Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders demonstrating the impact of the Family Services Program.
  • Assist Director of Family Services with facilitating staff training sessions on best practices, trauma-informed care, and cultural competency in serving diverse families facing homelessness

Case Management

  • Provide case management to families registered in the Shelter’s programs.
  • Manage the enrollment and discharge process of all families.
  • Organize, facilitate, and conduct group-meetings, and training sessions for parents.
  • Conduct assessment of the client's family needs and identify existing support networks.
  • Cultivate and sustain robust connections with families from the past, present, and future, as well as with community partners.
  • Ensure maintenance of complete and current client records.

Collaboration and Networking

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, governmental agencies, and service providers to enhance support networks for families facing homelessness.
  • Represent ACS at community meetings, task forces, and collaborative initiatives related to homelessness and family services.
  • Plan and execute outreach activities to advocate for increased awareness of program.

Education:

  • A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or equivalent qualifications preferred.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in a related field will be considered.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in providing social services and project management.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is essential and mandatory.

There may some Physical Demands:

This position works in a typical office setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities to alter physical position or change eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 50 pounds. Local travel is required. Must have a satisfactory driving record.

Location: Hybrid work environment with office location at 607 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308. Occasional in-region travel to meetings and events.

Schedule: 40-50 hours standard weekly, typically Monday - Friday. Occasional evenings or weekend hours may be required.
