AR Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist with a strong background in medical billing and accounts receivable management. The ideal candidate will be proficient in handling medical claims, appeals, denials, and data entry, with a specific knowledge of Medi-Cal (California Medicaid) and anesthesia billing. This position will be remote but reports to our Santa Ana office. The hours would be 7am - 3:30 pm PST

Key Responsibilities:

• Claims Processing: Accurately file and manage medical claims, including electronic and paper submissions. Ensure all claims are processed timely and in accordance with payer requirements.

• Appeals and Denials Management: Review and address denied or rejected claims. Prepare and submit appeals with the necessary documentation and follow up until resolution.

• Data Entry: Perform accurate and efficient data entry for accounts receivable transactions, including payments, adjustments, and account updates.

• Medi-Cal Knowledge: Apply knowledge of Medi-Cal guidelines and billing requirements to ensure compliance and accurate billing.

• Anesthesia Billing (Preferred): Utilize specialized knowledge in anesthesia billing to handle claims and resolve issues related to anesthesia services.

• Customer Service: Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to address billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies.

• Reporting: Generate and analyze accounts receivable reports to monitor aging accounts, cash flow, and other financial metrics.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical accounts receivable, with a strong background in medical billing and collections.

• Knowledge: Proficiency in filing claims, handling appeals and denials, and data entry. Familiarity with Medi-Cal billing is essential. Knowledge of anesthesia billing is strongly preferred.

• Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and experience with electronic medical billing software or practice management systems.

• Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for accuracy and thoroughness in managing financial records.

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams.

• Work Hours: Must be available to work within the Pacific Time Zone from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

• the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
• licensure and certification requirements;
• office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
