Our fast-paced work enables quick learning and an environment where you can stretch yourself and grow your career with us. We're looking for a professional, hands-on Field Systems Engineer to work in our Boise office.

General Summary:

The Field Engineer assists the project management team by being present onsite at various projects to assist in the commissioning, testing, and training for vehicular barriers, high and low voltage systems, building access controls, pedestrian barriers, solar power platforms, and a variety of sensor packages

Responsibilities:

  • Wire and terminate access controls of various types, protocols, and topologies
  • Determine best practices for low voltage wiring in diverse locations
  • Train other employees on basic and advanced electrical topics
  • Be fully responsible for a site’s startup and commissioning of vehicle barriers, traffic lighting, and other Sloan-installed (or other contractor) appurtenances
  • Knowledge/ Experience RequirementsExcellent oral and verbal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels, and via multiple different means (phone, video conference, email, IM, etc.)
  • Electrical engineering background or proven experience with electrical (high and low voltage) componentry and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in adverse conditions under tight deadlines and minimal external support
  • Ability to work with a team and help others understand the complexities of the installed electrical control systems
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks and projects, and changing priorities.
  • Independent, self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Strong math, technical, and analytical skill.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint documents.
  • MS Excel, Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat

Essential Functions:

  • Able to use a computer and a phone
  • Able to use office equipment (fax, copy machine, scanner)
  • Must be able to move quickly from one area to another
  • Able to operate a vehicle
  • Ability to obtain security clearances
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Travel 75%
