Precision Pumping Systems has been a local and family-owned manufacturing business since 1972. To continue our growth, PPS is looking to increase our labor force to keep up with production demands from the sales of our increasingly popular packaged pump stations. Job Summary:

The Field Service Tech is an expert in the field's operation, maintenance, and repair of precision pumping systems. This role supports installation, training, and service in the field. The person will be working with the customer, installer, and local service representatives, and interfacing with PPS. This person is responsible for ensuring that systems are properly repaired per service agreements. The position is self-directed and collaborative. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits.

Essential Job Functions:

• Troubleshoot and repair systems in the field.
• Oversee the startup of the system in the field by being the expert in the background.
• Train local operators on how to run, startup, winterize, and maintain the system in the field.
• Troubleshoot, order, and install replacement parts for systems in the field.
• Communicate to on-site customers, repair teams, and the factory to direct and facilitate remote start-ups,
troubleshooting, and repair.
• Collect, evaluate, and report repair data for service units in the field to help with improving service
quality and new product quality in the future.
• Project manage, prioritize, and schedule repair and part delivery at multiple sites.
• Communicate proactively and in a timely fashion to the factory about part failure or design opportunities.
Cross-train and learn other functions as needed.

Leadership Responsibilities:

This position has some leadership responsibilities based on being the person on the ground at startup and interfacing with customers and customer representatives. Leadership is required when troubleshooting systems in the field.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may, on occasion, be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, live power, water pressure, job site dangers, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee may be asked to handle power tools and to manipulate tools, wires, and components.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The position may involve lifting +/- 55 pounds for short periods throughout the day.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office & typing.
  • Experience with the assembly, test, and troubleshooting of PPS products.
  • Experience and knowledge in production and quality standards for PPS including welding, torquing.
  • Skilled at troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Expertise in communication and attention to detail.
  • Ability to project manage, prioritize, and coordinate responsibilities in the field.
  • 2 to 4 years' experience with assembly and troubleshooting systems.
  • Knowledge of product design and production.
  • Experience with irrigation systems or water flow systems.
  • Excellence at training and communicating to customers.
  • Experience with customer service, creativity and innovation.
