Hi Tech, a NYC-based IT and technology consultancy, is looking for a sharp, energetic, highly versatile, and friendly tech professional to join our team in San Diego

Key Responsibilities

Our newest team member will play a critical role in maintaining clients' IT systems, upholding rigorous compliance and information security standards, and providing top-notch support to end-users, primarily remotely from our office in downtown San Diego. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a keen understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in information security and compliance.

Compliance and Information Security:

  • Developing, implementing, and enforcing information security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and systems;

  • Conducting regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks;

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, such as NIST 800-X, CIS, PCI, CSF, GDPR, HIPAA, or other industry-specific standards, etc.

  • Providing training and support to employees on security best practices and compliance requirements;

  • Staying current with emerging security threats and industry trends and recommend improvements to enhance security posture.

Systems Administration:

  • Configuring and administering SaaS applications (e.g., Google Workspace, Atlassian Suite, Zoom, Dropbox, Slack, 1Password, Jamf, Active Directory, etc.);
  • Creating and maintaining user accounts, permissions, and security settings in accordance with company policies;
  • Monitoring system performance, ensuring system availability, and performing regular backups and disaster recovery tasks;
  • Performing routine maintenance and updates to ensure system security and performance for clients;
  • Analyzing existing technology-related pain points and providing effective and budget-conscious recommendations and reasoning to our client's management team;
  • Onboarding and offboarding of clients' team members - in a friendly, professional, and sensitive manner.

Technical Support:

  • Providing exceptional technical support to end-users, addressing hardware, software, and network issues promptly and effectively;

  • Diagnosing and resolving technical problems related to desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals on MacOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Windows devices;

  • Striving for ego-less, excellent communication with clients and team members;

  • Analyzing existing technology-related pain points and providing effective and budget-conscious recommendations and reasoning to our client's management team;

  • Managing vendor relationships (and performing contract reviews);

  • Performing device enrollment and asset management;

  • Creating/maintaining processes and documentation;

  • Documenting, tracking, and following up on support issues to ensure timely resolution;

  • Providing detailed, accurate, and timely reporting of work completed for client deliverables.

  • Extremely detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues;

  • Project manages complex, nuanced issues, end-to-end, and works successfully with limited supervision;

  • Deep-dives into research and finds fixes when faced with unfamiliar technical hurdles or blockers; and,

  • Is highly-personable

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience;

  • 3-5+ years of post-collegiate technical experience;

  • InfoSec & Compliance Certifications, including CompTIA Security+, CISA, CISSP, etc;

  • Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems);

  • Familiarity with compliance regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and internal compliance training tools (KnowBe4, etc.);

  • Deep knowledge of Google Workspace for Business;

  • Understanding of basic audio hardware (mics, mixers, etc.);

  • Knowledge and understanding of interoperability (and limitations of) all common digital and analog cables and interfaces (Ethernet, HDMI, USB-C, DVI, etc.);

  • Understanding of ISP and networking hardware (modems, firewalls, switches, access points) along with concepts such as DNS, DHCP, VPN, and TCP/IP protocols;

  • Ability to troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired network connectivity and to improve overall network performance and security;

  • Ability to effectively and accurately use a tape measure, hand tools, a power drill, and be comfortable on a ladder;

  • Must be trustworthy and maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive client data (able to sign NDAs as required).
