The Municipal Planning and Transportation Group at AKRF is seeking a Lead Roadway Engineer to be based out of Stamford, CT. This individual will serve a key function in the design and management of public roadway and infrastructure projects for our broad range of City and State agency clients. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of the region.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and/or support project management of capital improvement projects for roadway and utility infrastructure in Connecticut.
  • Lead/support project management responsibilities including managing discrete tasks, project schedule and budget.
  • Lead and/or support design and production of plans, specifications, quantities, and deliverables in accordance with CTDOT standards.
  • Lead and/or support preparation of proposals for pursuit of new opportunities.
  • Provide direction, delegation, mentoring, and training to staff engineers.
  • Day-to-day project communication and coordination with clients and other engineers.

Essential Requirements:

  • 5-12 years’ experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • CT PE (or the ability to obtain the PE licensure within 6-12 months of hire).
  • CTDOT Experience preferred
  • Microstation / OpenRoads proficiency strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D a plus
  • Working knowledge of roadway design including horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, drainage analysis and design, utility design and coordination
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational ability

Compensation will range from $110K to $140K, and commensurate with experience.
