Inpatient After Hours Coordinator Level II

The Inpatient After Hours Coordinator Level II is responsible for assisting the After Hour Nurse Case Managers with the coordination of patient care within established timeframes and utilizing established guidelines. They will report directly to the After Hours Lead.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Generates authorization numbers (eg. inpatient, transportation, ARU, SNF/SAU, etc) and send copy to vendor hospitals per Afterhours Nurse directive.
· Assists with repatriation of patients from out of network facilities to their contracted/capitated facility.
· Ensure contracted Hospitalists/Specialists are utilized for admissions, transfers, and repatriations.
· Verifies patient’s eligibility using EZ Cap, Health Plan website, Medical website, and Passport.
· Supports Afterhours Nurse Case Managers by calling hospitalist/specialist, sending transfer packet, following up on bed status, arranging transfer transportation, and confirming arrivals.
· Calls the hospital to request for clinical reviews or medical records and archive into EZ CAP.
· Assists in reaching out to hospitalist (eg. FCS, AHCN, CVIPA, PPN, Prudent) for any discharge needs.
· Exhibits consistent behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality care and concern with every internal and external member.
· Seeks assistance and escalates issues when needed from the After Hours Lead/Senior Nurse.
· Performs other duties as assigned by After Hours Lead/Senior Nurse.
· Schedule will vary but must be available for a minimum of 5 shifts per week, weekends, holidays, and other unscheduled closures of MedPOINT Management.
Minimum Job Requirements
· Required a High School or GED.
· Preferred an associate degree in a related field.
· Required 3 years of experience in a managed care setting, medical office or facility setting with demonstration of medical administration duties.
· Intermediate knowledge of medical terminology and/or experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
Skill and Abilities
· Intermediate ability to multi-task.
· Required intermediate Microsoft Outlook Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
· Intermediate demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills.
· Intermediate ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers and management.
