Overview:
Our client, A leading Aerospace Manufacturer in the Simi Valley area is looking for skilled Hone Machinists to join their team. This is an entry-level position and is responsible for producing work meeting the drawing specifications and requirements as well as the following accountabilities:

Key Accountabilities

  • Completes set-ups with supervision/assistance.
  • Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance within allotment time, as a Level I machinist.
  • Perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspection and records.
  • As you learn, identify and recommend process improvements that reduce part quality variation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent
  • Ability to learn all phases of part operation set-up on various Hone equipment.
  • CNC/Technology/Machinist trade school certification a plus.
  • Ability to learn to use Air Indicators, Dial Bore Gages, Deltronic pin, profilometers and plate inspection methods, first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.
  • Ability to maintain required finishes, close tolerances (within .0002-.0005”) of I.D’s, OD's, roundness, perpendicularity and concentricity.
  • Some understanding of machine tool accuracies, size offsets, tool pressures and required tooling.
  • Some knowledge of cutting tool feeds, speeds, and best tool life for aerospace materials.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blueprint and quality requirements in English.
  • Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance).
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Reliability is key, you will need to be on time and have minimal unscheduled time off.
  • Stable work history.
  • 2nd Shift (3:30pm - 12am) Monday - Friday
