Position Overview

The Manual Centerless Grinder Technician is tasked with producing components that adhere to specified drawing requirements and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct set-ups with guidance and support.
  • Oversee all aspects of part operation set-up to ensure first article acceptance within the designated timeframe.
  • Execute and maintain precise in-process quality inspections and documentation.
  • Identify and propose process enhancements aimed at minimizing part quality variations.
  • Seek opportunities to optimize processes, procedures, and reduce waste.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with part operation set-up on various manual grinding and honing equipment.
  • CNC/Technology/Machinist trade school certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using air indicators, dial bore gauges, Deltronic pins, profilometers, and plate inspection methods, along with first article and in-process inspection of precision machined components.
  • Ability to learn and maintain required finishes and tight tolerances (within inches) for I.D.s, O.D.s, roundness, perpendicularity, and concentricity.
  • Understanding of machine tool accuracies, size offsets, tool pressures, and necessary tooling is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of cutting tool feeds, speeds, and optimal tool life for aerospace materials is beneficial.
  • Capable of following verbal instructions and interpreting blueprints and quality specifications in English.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and management.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (more than 25 lbs. with assistance).
  • Ideal candidates will have some familiarity with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Reliability is essential; punctuality and minimal unscheduled absences are expected.
  • A stable work history is preferred.
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder) in compliance with ITAR Regulations.
