Position Overview

The Manual Grinder/Hone Machinist plays a crucial role in producing components that adhere to specified drawing standards and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct set-ups with minimal oversight.
  • Oversee all aspects of part operation set-up to ensure first article acceptance within the designated timeframe.
  • Perform and document accurate in-process quality inspections.
  • Identify and propose process enhancements to minimize part quality variation.
  • Input data into visual management systems and communicate results to management.
  • Continuously seek improvements in processes and procedures while eliminating waste.
  • Execute other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of three years of experience in all phases of part operation set-up on various Manual Grinders/Hone equipment.
  • CNC/Technology/Machinist trade school certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using Air Indicators, Dial Bore Gages, Deltronic pins, Profilometers, and plate inspection methods, including first article and in-process inspection of precision machined components.
  • Ability to maintain required finishes and close tolerances (within inches) of I.D's, O.D.'s, roundness, perpendicularity, and concentricity.
  • Understanding of machine tool accuracies, size offsets, tool pressures, and necessary tooling.
  • Knowledge of cutting tool feeds, speeds, and optimal tool life for aerospace materials.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blueprints and quality requirements in English.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with colleagues and management.
  • Capability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance).
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Reliability is essential; punctuality and minimal unscheduled absences are expected.
  • Stable work history is preferred.
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder) in compliance with ITAR Regulations.
