About the Role:

 

The successful applicant will cultivate relationships within the defense, space, aerospace, rail, and shipping industries and will be responsible for overseeing the entire business acquisition process to support the North American software and services offering.

 

This proactive role involves identifying, pursuing, and closing business opportunities using solution selling and trusted partner techniques.

 

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and results-driven and your success will directly impact the firm's growth across the US.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Regional Customer Account Management: Handle strategic partnerships, new opportunities, upgrades, maintenance, and support (e.g., major programs, proposals, quotes, maintenance renewals).
  • Market Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of North American markets and stay closely connected with all relevant business information sources.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Partner with the marketing team to identify and attend symposia and exhibitions to enhance market visibility and contribute to business growth.
  • Tender Monitoring: Monitor tender opportunities and ensure the Company is listed as a supplier to receive invitations to tender.
  • Support Team Coordination: Collaborate with support teams on customer requests requiring sales input (e.g., contract renewals, requests for spares, ad-hoc tasks).
  • CRM and Sales Pipeline Management: Maintain and update the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and sales pipeline tools.
  • Market Growth Strategy Development: Work with the Head of IPS & Strategic Development to formulate market growth strategies to achieve annual business growth targets.
  • Global Support Engineering Consultancy: Contribute to establishing a global support engineering consultancy service.
  • Industry Engagement: Enhance organizational profile in the support engineering space through participation in working groups and industry bodies.
  • Sales and Marketing Support: Assist the sales and marketing team in developing the support engineering portfolio, providing advice and commercial support for business development and bids.

 

About You:

 

Essential:

 

  • Proven track record of success in SaaS sales, with several years of experience in a Business Development or Account Management role.
  • Solution Selling and Trusted Partnerships: Demonstrable competence in solution selling and developing trusted partnerships.
  • Defense Consultancy Network: Evidence of a network within defense consultancy.
  • Project Tenacity: Ability to see complex projects through to successful completion.
  • Leadership and Organization: Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Problem-Solving: Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers.
  • Consultancy Skills: Strong interpersonal and customer-facing consultancy skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive and results-driven approach to sales.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
  • CRM Tools: Proficient with at least one leading CRM tool.

 

Desirable:

 

  • Business Winning Proposals Training: Trained in producing business-winning proposals (Shipley or Miller Heiman).
  • Support Engineering Experience: Experience in developing support engineering tasks and project solutions in collaboration with support engineering practitioners.
  • Product Life Cycle Understanding: Knowledge of support engineering requirements at all stages of the product life cycle.
