Job Description: As the Executive Director of Florida Agencies Serving the Blind, you will play a pivotal role in leading the organization towards achieving its strategic goals and objectives. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will provide collaborative leadership, effective management, and fiscal responsibility to ensure the continued success and growth of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan aligned with the organization's mission and vision.
  • Inform the Board about significant political, economic, and legal concerns/trends affecting the organization and its members.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new board members into the organization, providing training and guidance as needed.
  • Empower member organizations to actively participate in shaping the strategic direction and advocacy efforts of the organization.
  • Coordinate and oversee membership meetings to foster engagement and collaboration among members.
  • Manage organizational and financial aspects, including budget development, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Communicate the organization's vision, public policy, and advocacy priorities effectively to stakeholders, including legislators and community leaders.
  • Maintain a positive image for the organization within the community, serving as its spokesperson when necessary.
  • Oversee human resources management, ensuring adherence to policies and legal regulations.
  • Ensure timely and successful completion of all contracts and grants.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of 5 years of management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse personalities and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in budgeting and financial management.
  • Knowledge or experience working with vulnerable populations is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage competing demands effectively.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication, including public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to travel as needed within and outside the state.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a level 2 criminal history background check (renewed every five years).
