Job Summary

The HR Specialist/Recruiter performs a variety of confidential, administrative, and clerical tasks to support the overall operations of the Human Resources Department.

Job description

  1. Maintains the HR department's policies, while following the collective bargaining agreements.
  2. Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  3. Prepares new employee files and performs routine filing, scanning, and archiving of records to ensure record retention compliance.
  4. Ensures employee records are secure.
  5. Supports the recruitment and hiring process by organizing the interview process, preparing application packets, scheduling interviews, completing reference checks, maintaining records and information, and following up with applicants through various stages of the hiring process.
  6. Assists with pre-employment background checks, physicals, and drugs tests. Assist with payroll administration.
  7. Acts as a back-up for employee orientation and other required training.
  8. Assists with the administration of employee benefits, which may include collecting and submitting employee information and notice of change in status to health, dental, life, disability, and other insurance benefits.
  9. Assists with company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment, and meetings to announce or discuss company changes.
  10. Assists with record audits and mandatory reports.
  11. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Must be fluent in Spanish and English
  2. Must be able to work nights and Saturday’s.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  9. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  10. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  11. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  12. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  13. 3+ years of experience in HR-related field
  14. Excellent communication skills
  15. Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures
  16. Proficient in MS Office

Physical Requirements

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  3. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
