The Director/Sr. Director, People and Culture will ensure compliance with ethical standards and employment regulations and align the company with best employment and employee engagement practices. This position is crucial in driving strategic HR initiatives, leading top-talent acquisition efforts, and building a dynamic and progressive organizational culture.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONCIBILITIES

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Act as the strategic partner to the executive team, providing insights and guidance on strategic and tactical HR matters
  • Engage in strategic workforce planning by assessing organizational capabilities, identifying talent gaps, and developing resources
  • Provide organizational development support through initiatives such as organizational design, talent development, leadership coaching, and change management
  • Lead, coach, develop and mentor the HR team and direct reports
  • Maintain a solution-focused attitude and positive mindset in identifying problems and creating effect solutions in leadership and employee engagement

Culture and Employee Engagement:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of a high-performing, positive and inclusive organizational culture, promoting the company’s core values and mission
  • Lead efforts to enhance workplace diversity, equity and inclusion to drive performance
  • Oversee employee benefits and wellness programs that support the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and ongoing engagement of employees
  • Foster a sense of community through team-building activities, company events, and other initiatives that encourage collaboration and camaraderie among employees
  • Design and manage recognition programs to celebrate employees’ achievements and milestones
  • Develop and support employee and corporate social responsibility (CR) programs that connect employees with broader communities
  • Build communication strategies and tactics that keep employees informed and engaged with company culture initiatives
  • Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness and improvements of company and employee initiatives and programs
  • Lead change management efforts related to cultural transformations and other strategic programs
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovative employment practices

Compliance, Policy, and Procedure Development:

  • Enhance, enforce and implement Aytu’s HR policies and procedures by providing systems to improve overall operations and effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
  • Ensure effective Leave of Absence (LOA) process management and administration
  • Lead efforts to administer HRIS/Payroll systems, recruiting, onboarding, status changes and terminations
  • Take full responsibility for all regulatory agency audits and requests
  • Prepare and present reports on HR metrics to executive leadership

Talent Acquisition and Employee Lifecycle:

  • Oversee and assist with all stages of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, talent development, and off-boarding
  • Partner with sales leadership to identify key competencies and skills requires for our sales specialists and regional sales managers
  • Lead and conduct new hire orientation for all incoming employees
  • Manage talent development initiatives, including training, leadership development, mentoring and career development programs
  • Create succession plans to ensure a pipeline of qualified candidates in local and regional talent pools
  • Facilitate regular meetings with commercial leadership to review recruitment progress and adjust strategies as needed

Performance Management:

  • Utilize performance data to identify trends and inform strategic HR decisions regularly
  • Review and update performance management policies to reflect best practices and organizational changes
  • Oversee and manage the performance appraisal process and implement performance management systems that align with organizational goals
  • Monitor performance and development of all staff and employees, providing feedback and resources for growth

Employee Relations:

  • Enable and cultivate a positive work environment across all functions to ensure high employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations to handle employee relations matters with fairness and consistency
  • Oversee the Aytu HR inbox and answer employes questions and triage employee requests
  • Find creative solutions to resolve discrepancies, complaints and concerns
  • Conduct investigations providing recommendations for resolutions and follow-up

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) strongly preferred

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of progressive HR experience with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role as either a Senior Leader, Program Manager or related title
  • Experience leading direct reports, coaching, mentoring and developing subordinates
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing employee engagement and development
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations

General Capabilities:

  • Strong critical thinking skills, time management and organizational skills

Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience working with Microsoft Suite and ADP
