Product Testing Specialist I- position open at Future Labs, LLC

Since 1995, Future Labs, LLC has provided independent laboratory certification of the quality of all types of products and their raw materials. Future Labs, LLC performs over 300 different tests per ASTM, AASHTO, State DOTs, Federal, ISO, EN, and other International Specifications. Testing has been performed for over 300 customers and reports supplied to over 400 different entities in all 50 states and over 30 foreign companies. Future Labs, LLC is one of the few independent labs in the world that specializes in the testing of Highway Safety Products and raw materials.

Position type: Full-time, Salaried Exempt

Supervisor: Coatings Lab Manager

Characteristics of Position:

Education: BS in Polymer Science, Chemistry or Engineering

Experience:

· 0 to 5 years in a commercial laboratory.

· Paint, Plastic, or Composite testing is desired

· Experience setting up test methods and product testing preferred.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

· Knowledge of Polymeric materials

· Knowledge of common test methods for Paint, Plastics, or Composites

o Knowledge of all three is a plus

o Comfortable preparing test samples

§ Comfortable working with shop tools

o Knowledge of how Polymeric products are manufactured.

· Knowledge of inorganic materials a plus

· Must have excellent written and verbal Communication Skills

· Comfortable working with computers

· Comfortable using MS Excel and MS Word

· Comfortable learning and working with custom programs that run analytical and physical test equipment

· Comfortable working on laboratory equipment both electronic and mechanical

Responsibilities:

· The main responsibility of the Product Testing Specialist is to support all areas of Testing for the Laboratory

§ Those areas include, but are not limited to:

· Highway Safety Products

· Paints, Plastics, Composites

· Inorganic products and raw materials of the products tested

· The Product Testing Specialist will be required to be given a product or material specification, determine the tests required and perform the appropriate tests. This is an acquired skill and may not be required of less experienced hires initially.

· The Product Testing Specialist will be required to learn how to calibrate or check calibration on all testing equipment to be used.

· The Product Testing Specialist will be required to interact with customers by phone, email, or text in order to:

o Determine their requirements for testing and product certification.

o Explain report results and testing procedures

· The Product Testing Specialist will be required to perform any other technical activities as required by the Coatings Lab Manager or Technical Director.
