CSG Consultants Inc. (CSG), an established and thriving employee-owned civil engineering and municipal services consulting firm, is offering a unique and exciting position with an opportunity for growth as a structural engineer. The Associate Structural (Bridge) Engineer is a mid-level position in our engineering department, responsible for engineering work related to the planning, design, and construction support of various public works projects; e.g., bridges, soldier pile walls, tie-back walls, soil-nail walls, sound walls, box culverts, overhead signs and other non-building structures. Under the direction and supervision of project managers, an Associate Structural (Bridge) Engineer performs complex engineering work and may possibly act as a supervisor to less experienced engineers and/or technical staff. Interested candidates must have a willingness to perform general engineering tasks supporting project managers and project engineers as required.

We only consider candidates living locally or within the State of CA. We do not pay any relocation expenses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform structural calculations, develop plans, engineering estimates and specifications for the construction of public works improvement projects including bridges, retaining walls, box culverts and non-building structures.
  • Knowledge of Caltrans Bridge design, construction standards and California Building Code.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings, documents, and geotechnical reports.
  • Oversee work performed by entry-level engineers.
  • Develop project schedules, engineering quantities, cost estimates and assist with project proposals.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of progressive work experience as an Assistant Engineer or equivalent in the field of structural design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Well versed in the principles and practices of engineering and applicable laws and codes related to public works projects with a high level of independent judgement.
  • Experience of structural analysis and design software, e.g., SAP, Enercalc, Retainpro, Mathcad, Excel and AutoCAD.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification.
  • California PE License is desired, but not required.
  • Experience with methods, materials, and techniques used in the design and construction of structural transportation projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Driving occasionally to job sites.

  • Working with detailed, finely printed documents.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and multiple projects.

The compensation for this position is $80,000 to $150,000 annually.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
