Job Overview and Responsibilities

This role is subject to approval from the Department of Finance (DOF).

 The Lead Structural Engineer (LSE) will be responsible for conducting, but not limited to, initial assessments, triage evaluations, standard reviews, expedited processes, and over-the-counter evaluations of submission documents related to complex structural engineering tasks in the planning and construction of healthcare facilities. This is essential to ensure adherence to Title 24, California Code of Regulations (CCRs), including all associated codes and standards, the Division's Policy Intent Notices, Code Application Notices, and other relevant guidelines and policies. The LSE will also perform field inspections as directed and maintain current certifications with the relevant licensing authority.

Essential Qualifications

Verification of Minimum Qualifications will occur prior to the interview and/or appointment. If education is being used to meet Minimum Qualifications, unofficial transcripts must be submitted for validation. Official transcripts will be required upon appointment. Should it be determined that an application does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the applicant will be removed from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible for the position. Applicants who have been removed may appeal with the State Personnel Board.
