Job Overview and Responsibilities

This role is subject to approval from the Department of Finance (DOF).

 The Lead Structural Engineer (LSE) will be responsible for conducting, among other tasks, preliminary assessments, triage evaluations, standard reviews, expedited analyses, and over-the-counter evaluations of submission documents related to complex structural engineering projects in the development and construction of healthcare facilities. This is essential to ensure adherence to Title 24, California Code of Regulations (CCRs), including all associated codes and standards, the Division's Policy Intent Notices, Code Application Notices, and other relevant guidelines and policies. The LSE will also perform field inspections as required. It is imperative to maintain current certification with the relevant licensing authority.

Special Qualifications

Verification of Minimum Qualifications will be conducted prior to the interview and/or appointment. If meeting Minimum Qualifications through education, it is necessary to provide unofficial transcripts for validation. Official transcripts will be mandated upon appointment. Should it be determined that an application does not fulfill the Minimum Qualifications, the applicant will be removed from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible for hiring in this position. Candidates who have been removed may submit an appeal to the State Personnel Board.
