Community Engagement Intern at Safe Place

Safe Place in Washington, DC is looking for an intern to join a growing team of passionate advocates for the Fall 2024 Community Engagement Internship. Our ideal candidate should be self-driven, punctual, and reliable.
Responsibilities
•Work closely with the Chief Leadership Officer to learn all aspects of community engagement practices.
•Learn and assist in identifying and making meaningful connections to valued programs and Safe Place, complimentary services throughout DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
• Assist with tasks related to increasing engagement with effective use of Safe Place resources.
• Support the continued optimization of social media platforms, information gathering, and assisting in relevant posts for community engagement.
• Engage in basic data analysis as needed.
• Participate in web-based and in-person courses and/or training with effective use of Microsoft Office.
• Participate in internal and external meetings/calls and assist with documentation and follow-up.
• Support training and community sessions to build awareness and skills within the community.
• Work with the Chief Leadership Officer or Advocacy & Special Programs Director to organize and coordinate outreach events.
• Assist with other project tasks and outreach activities as needed.
Qualifications
Prior work or internship experience is not required.
Candidates must have received their high school diploma or an equivalent diploma.
Candidates pursuing an advanced undergraduate or graduate degree can make arrangements to receive course credits.
• Ability to quickly learn new platforms and and processes .
• Perceptive communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and professionalism.
• Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work independently on minor tasks as required.
• Prior experience with community engagement and customer service is a plus.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite and web-based platforms, as needed.
Compensation: This role is officially unpaid however, a small monthly stipend may be offered.
Supervision: The intern will be directly supervised by the Chief Leadership Officer with weekly standing meetings to review work plans for the week, and ensure that the intern has clear expectations and support/guidance to complete all assigned tasks.
Professional Development: The intern will have the opportunity to participate in professional development sessions.

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Compensation depends on your experience.
