Summary

The Tax Manager is responsible for managing tax reporting and compliance within the organization and includes planning, preparing, reviewing, and filing of all federal, state, local, personal property, sales and use tax returns. This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the Tax Manager ’s position and it is not intended to be an exhaustive list of skills, efforts, duties, responsibilities or working conditions associated with the position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of federal and state tax income/franchise tax filings
  • Preparation of ASC740 Federal and State Quarterly Tax Provision
  • Responsible for maintaining corporate tax controls
  • Review of sales tax and personal property tax returns
  • Review of personal property tax returns
  • Review of sales and use tax controls
  • Perform tax research projects for submission to management
  • Asist with budget analysis and completion
  • Ability to research international tax issues and manage projects with international consultants
  • Must have the ability to work independently
  • Must possess good organizational skills and be computer literate
  • Advises management regarding effects of business activities on taxes, and on strategies for minimizing tax liability
  • Ensures that organization complies with periodic tax payment, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements.
  • Must have the ability to supervise all outside tax service providers
  • Prepare/review technical tax memorandum
  • Manage, develop, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance through formal periodic reviews and informal feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics or related field
  • 8-10 years of tax experience
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP) and financial software applications (OneSource – Income Tax, Provision, and Property Tax)
  • Demonstrates the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents; the ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints; and the ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, taxing authorities, etc.
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations and the ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Office Setting

· Choice of sitting or standing or alternating between them (stand-up desk optional)

· Keyboarding/typing on a computer for extended periods of time

· Moderate noise, i.e., phones, printer, light foot traffic
