Role Overview:
The Sales Engineer is responsible for serving as the conceptual subject matter expert on the manufacturability for requested customer products. This role works directly alongside the Business Development team to explain the technical aspects of the project to potential and current customers, which include consulting on product development, explaining product features during on-site customer visits, as well as assisting with the estimating and negotiating of contract terms.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review customer requirements drawings etc. and evaluate manufacturability.
- Interface with customers on initial sales calls.
- Interface with customers and their engineering teams throughout.
- Create detailed cost estimates to submit to customers.
- Create detailed scope letters with the Business Development team to submit to customers.
- Assist with proposal compilation and submission.
- Provide engineering support to the Business Development team during the proposal process.
- Prepare and give technical presentations to explain to customers how the products and services of the Company work.
- Help customers to solve problems with product usage.
- Recommend new and improved products to the customers and explain how the equipment will be more cost-effective.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years’ experience in engineering field for manufacturing organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field, preferably electrical engineering.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills, including a high attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel).
- Prior experience in developing estimates and project scopes for customers.
- Previous experience working with Sales Teams and Business Development on engineering needs.
