SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with an Aerospace/Telecommunications company seeking an experienced Test Software Engineer to join their facility in Redmond, WA. This company is committed to bringing fast and affordable broadband to underserved populations across the world. This position is a contract with an expected duration of 6 months.

Primary Function:
The Test Software Engineer designs and builds software systems to test flight components and satellites, ensuring maximum performance and reliability in extreme environments. They write automation software to interact with flight hardware, test equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation systems.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
- Design software and build systems that test flight components and full satellites for maximum performance and reliability in extreme environments, with mission success being imperative
- Your focus will be on developing integrated operations and automation for the components and platforms
- Develop modular, reusable test and automation software in Python and similar languages for manufacturing and engineering design verification
- Write automation software to interact with flight hardware, test equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation systems
- Develop software that allows for test execution across multiple environments: hardware-in-the-loop (HITL, HIL) and virtualized hardware simulations
- Develop custom automation solutions to engineering and manufacturing challenges using a combination of embedded electronics and innovative hardware
- Develop algorithms to analyze complex test data to determine if components have met acceptance criteria
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing automation infrastructure and work with partner teams to determine and correct root cause of failures
- Define and implement project plans, manage milestones and hold reviews to assure reliable test systems are delivered to production
- Invent tools that enable more frequent and reliable software deployment, test execution, and data analysis as part of a continuous integration and release system
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline
- 1+ year of software development experience in C, C++, or Python; or full stack software development experience (internship experience is applicable)
- Experience with test equipment for power electronics
- Strong skills in troubleshooting, debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing
- Proven track-record of authoring supporting documents for software development
- Experience with continuous integration and monitoring
- Solid fundamental knowledge of batteries, electronics, manufacturing, math, and physics
- Pass a background check upon acceptance of an offer.
Work Environment:
Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
