IRISNDT is currently seeking a local Senior API - Turnaround Planner for a twenty-two (22) week project in the Westlake, LA area  Anticipated to start mid-August 2024.  Schedule: 5/10's.  Seeking local applicants only - No Per Diem paid.  


Position Summary:


The Senior API Inspector-Turnaround Planner is responsible for the extensive planning and organization of labor and materials and will schedule the planning of inspections, installation, equipment testing and monitoring for safety standards and regulations.  This individual will evaluate and prioritize maintenance and inspection requirements and develop plans to shut down, perform maintenance and start-up operations again once the turnaround work is complete. 


Position Responsibilities:


  • Planning and scheduling of all activities for assigned turnaround/shutdown.
  • Assess job to understand plan to achieve turnaround premises including minimizing cost and maximizing safety performance to create an initial scope of proposed work list.
  • Coordinate with various other disciplines including operations, engineering, procurement and inspection.
  • Verify work described in initial turnaround/shutdown work list and develop work scope activities including craft type, estimated man hours, detailed execution plan, and schedule (Pre, Execution, Post).
  • Ensure environmental plan is developed (waste disposal, abatement, frac tanks, vac trucks, etc.).
  • Provide work packages with detailed information for planning and execution while identifying and escalating high-risk activities.
  • Prepares logistics plan for assigned area.
  • Complete estimate of Direct Field Labor hours, overheads, materials, and equipment for assigned area.
  • Communicate key issues and risks to the turnaround leadership team.
  • Ensure the schedule is updated during execution for assigned work activities.
  • Management of turnaround files and records.
  • Seek opportunities to reduce turnaround scope, and plan & execute with a low-cost mindset.
  • Incorporate scopes of work with contractual terms and conditions to develop bid packages.
  • Incorporate safety, environmental and rescue into planned jobs.
  • Ensure that the actual work progress during execution is monitored and accurately updated in the schedule daily.
  • Provide drawings as necessary for “replacement in kind” of refinery equipment.
  • Monitor the quality of contractor and safety performance.
  • Communicate directly with Operations and management on material delivery, progress, and change order issues.
  • Communicate planned scope, using effective scheduling to track progress and support job completion.
  • Perform all other special assignments or tasks as assigned.


Required Qualifications:


  • API 510 & 570 certifications required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in turnarounds, maintenance, or project construction in the Industrial Gas, Refining, or Petrochemical environment.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience with inspection of pressure vessels and piping.
  • Must have good report writing skills.
  • Must have Unit inspection experience.
  • API 653 certification will be considered an asset.
  • Additional API certifications considered an asset.
  • NDT Level II certifications in (MT/PT/UTT/RT) considered an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required.
  • Pre-employment background checks will be required.
  • TWIC Card required.
