CIPC was founded in response to the 1996 passage of federal immigrant and welfare laws that profoundly affected immigrants. Today, CIPC advances inclusive policies that build a prosperous future for all Californians, using policy analysis, advocacy and capacity building. 


Over the past 28 years, CIPC has led groundbreaking campaigns that have greatly expanded protections, as well as access to publicly-funded services and programs, for California’s low-income immigrant populations, including but not limited to the Safe and Responsible Driver Act, the TRUST and TRUTH Acts, CA Values Act, E-Verify Bill, the Health for All campaign, California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC), and One California, the largest investment in legal services protection in the country.


Position Summary

CIPC’s Integrated Voter Engagement (IVE) work will be complementary to ongoing state
and regional efforts with an emphasis on building and supporting the infrastructure for
IVE with our partners in the immigrant rights field. The Statewide Organizer will work
with partners to educate immigrant voters about election issues through candidate
forums and Town Halls, support new and unlikely voters to cast their ballots, and ensure
that misinformation and intimidation do not inhibit people from voting. The Statewide
Organizer will also train and provide technical support to subgranted organizations
during the course of their electoral campaigns on canvassing, phone banking strategies
and get-out-the-vote strategies.

Reports to: Supervising Movement Building Manager


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Support local immigrant-serving organizations in organizing candidate forums,
town halls, immigrant voter Q&As on ballot initiatives, voter registration, and voter
engagement;
● Train and expand capacity to help build the pipeline of leadership for community
organizations to be able to put into practice Integrated Voter Engagement
strategies in key and strategic regions for the purpose of advancing progressive,
pro immigrant policies;
● Identify, build relationships, and act as liaison to community groups, coalitions,
partners, and stakeholders;
● Deepen relationships between community members and local organizations with
the importance of getting out the vote at its core;
● Increase awareness and underscore importance of the civic engagement
process within immigrant communities through direct engagement with voters;
● Collectively discuss, reflect and share best practices and learnings with all
program participants;
● Establish sound working relationships coalitions of community based
organizations coalitions on priority issues and campaigns;
● Work closely with the Government Affairs when connecting with elected officials,
candidates, and in planning civic engagement events;
● Support the Communications department develop content and marketing
materials to uplift Integrated Voter Engagement activities;
● Support supervisors, development, and executive team in preparation for
fundraising campaigns, events, and funder meetings to uplift Integrated Voter
Engagement initiatives;
● Lead subgranting efforts and initiatives and provide technical assistance in efforts
to build Integrated Voter Engagement activities with partner organizations;
● Provide timely reports on activities, strategies and outcomes;
● Assist with the development of a voter guide;
● Co-build a healthy team culture and work environment at CIPC;
● Support other movement building and organizing activities and efforts, as
assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
● Must have 4-6 years of grassroots community organizing, coalition building, voter
engagement experience, and working in political and electoral campaigns.
● Knowledge and experience in grassroots community organizing, coalition
building, and political and electoral campaigns.
● Must have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation.
● Bilingual in Spanish or other language expertise.
● Demonstrates analysis, critical thinking, and strategic thinking ability.
● Fosters teamwork and solutions-based approach to challenges.
● Self-motivated and able to work independently.

SUPERVISION/ACCOUNTABILITY STRUCTURE
● Supervision Scope: Performs highly responsible work requiring the frequent
exercise of independent judgment, and initiative in planning civic engagement
activities of the organization.
● Supervision Received: The Senior Organizer works under the direct supervision
of the Supervising Movement Building Manager.
● Supervision Given: May supervise interns and volunteers as directed by the
Supervising Movement Building Manager.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary Range: $73,950 to $76,186/annual, commensurate with skills and
experience.


CIPC is a unionized workplace represented by Immigrant Advocates United-United Auto
Workers. This position is in the bargaining unit and is covered under the terms of the
collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position runs from $73,950 to
$76,186. CIPC provides a comprehensive benefits package to its employees:


● Paid medical, dental, vision insurance, and life insurance (100% of the full
insurance premium for qualified employees and 75% of the premiums for their
dependents)
● 3% contribution to 401K retirement plan
● Commuter benefit or paid parking access
● Monthly reimbursement for cell and internet usage
● $1,500 professional development allowance

● Generous time off policy
    ○ Up to 26 paid holidays a year (includes summer and winter collective
         breaks)
     ○ Vacation: 1st year of service: 10 days, after completion of 1st year: 15
         days, after completion of 4th year: 20 days)
      ○ 6 personal days per year
● Flexible hours
● 4-week paid sabbatical leave after 5 years of service
