Position Purpose:

Under the direction of the Director, the Civic Engagement & Contracting Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of JWCH’s civic engagement efforts and managing the internal contract drive for the organization. This position will represent JWCH’s civic engagement team at key stakeholder meetings, coalition and partner meetings, and in public speaking settings such as conferences, panels, webinars, and trainings. The position will also catalog, calendar, and digitize all current and new contracts and amendments.

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Attend meetings related to government affairs, civic engagement, and legislation.
  2. Join FQHC advocacy organizations, specifically government-related committees and working groups on behalf of the agency.
  3. Prepare and create communications as needed, including letters to stakeholders and external partners, public comment letters, assistance with written testimonies and vignettes, internal company-wide communications such as newsletters, get-out-the-vote campaigns, fact sheets, FAQs, voter guides, and voter education materials.
  4. Work collaboratively with organizational leadership to allocate resources effectively, ensuring the success and sustainability of advocacy and civic engagement efforts.
  5. Track and monitor proposed legislation of interest to FQHC members at the federal, state, and local levels.
  6. Stay up to date on policy topics and trends related to increasing healthcare access/services and regulation.
  7. Provide input on the impact of changes in the policy landscape as it aligns with JWCH priorities.
  8. Provide legislative reports to the Director.
  9. Review all existing agency contracts and catalog them in a digital drive.
  10. Calendar important dates from contracts.
  11. Maintain the contract drive with all new contracts and amendments.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. BS or BA degree in Political Science, Public Health, or a health/human service field, or three (3) years of equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in coalition-building and working in a team environment; the ability to communicate complex information clearly in writing and oral presentations to a range of audiences; and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  3. Knowledge of social drivers of health.
  4. Ability to write reports, policy papers, business correspondence, publications, press releases (as needed), and legislative/regulatory inquiries and responses.
  5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  6. Working knowledge of word processing (MS Word) and spreadsheet (MS Excel) programs.
  7. Cultural competence and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  8. Current California Driver's License and ability to drive to program sites.
