Purpose:
As an Outside Sales Representative, you will sell food and non-food items to new and existing customers. You will be responsible for acquiring and developing new customers, achieving sales and gross profit budget goals, and managing all aspects of the business relationship between the company and its customers. Additionally, you will provide coverage for customers when their assigned territory manager is absent due to vacation or illness and may mentor with another Territory Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships to maximize profitable sales.
  • Develop new business by identifying prospective customers through business directories, leads, organizations, clubs, and trade shows.
  • Research customer needs and recommend products and services to meet those needs.
  • Provide product information and training to customers.
  • Manage delivery schedules and troubleshoot order issues.
  • Participate in sales meetings, food shows, and promotion programs.
  • Handle accounts receivable in collaboration with the credit department.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products.
  • Perform administrative duties such as preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, and processing credits and pick-up requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education/Training: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in business/marketing preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of sales experience preferred, especially in the food service industry.
  • Skills: Excellent oral and written communication, customer service, presentation, problem-solving, and negotiation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • License: Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Public Contact:
Must interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers, and vendors to positively affect productivity and morale.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, reach, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
