Connsci is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security & Privacy Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering background with at least 10 years of experience, including a minimum of 2 years in cybersecurity. This role involves implementing security controls and ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53, FISMA, and NIST policies. The Security & Privacy Engineer will support our federal clients by applying in-depth knowledge of security frameworks and tools to enhance their cybersecurity posture.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage security controls in accordance with NIST 800-53, FISMA, and NIST policies.
  • Prepare and present security policy materials and regulatory crosswalks to meet client deliverable needs.
  • Support the development and maintenance of cybersecurity and privacy policies, standards, and guidance for federal clients.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of federal policy pertaining to cybersecurity program governance, IT security operations, continuous monitoring, and risk management.
  • Utilize Jira and Confluence to track and manage security engineering tasks and collaborate with team members.
  • Provide expert guidance and support in the development of agency security policies and compliance activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 2 years in cybersecurity.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIST 800-53, FISMA, and NIST policies.
  • At least 1 year of experience implementing security controls.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence for collaboration and project tracking.
  • Proven experience interfacing with government clients and managing their expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification, or willingness to achieve certification within the first six months of employment.

Location: This position can be performed on a remote basis but there may be occasional on site team meetings, so preference will be given to candidates located in the DC Metro region.
