Job Overview:

Overair is seeking an experienced and driven individual to join our Flight Test team. Qualified candidates will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance of prototype aircraft and relevant ground support equipment. Must have a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification.

This role requires a wide range of knowledge and skills that include the basics of airframe and powerplant maintenance on composite airframes, advanced electro-mechanical devices, and fly-by-wire and high voltage electrical systems.

The candidate should thrive in a high paced environment and be comfortable with the design, development, and test life cycle of rapid aerospace R&D. This role will include daily interactions with engineers and managers, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with engineering disciplines to draft the maintenance documentation and checklists for the experimental aircraft that will be used during testing and will be submitted to the FAA as part of the airworthiness documentation package.

The applicant must be able to read drawings and schematics, know how to use a variety of hand and power tools, travel to the flight test site and able to stand for extended period, and have a strong desire to learn about a complex and innovative aircraft system.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical assembly, maintenance, and support on prototype aircraft.
  • Perform aircraft inspections per company procedures.
  • Compile the required documentation and paperwork in accordance with company and FAA procedures.
  • Document and communicate aircraft deficiencies, and work with the engineering teams to correct them.
  • Contribute to flight test success as part of the ground crew.
  • Maintain and operate required ground support equipment.
  • Help develop maintenance manuals and any other supporting documentation necessary to operate and maintain the vehicle.
  • Compliance with Overair safety, corporate, and organizational operating procedures.
  • Operate in a clean and orderly manner.

Required Qualifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification
  • 8+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance and flight operations experience.
  • Familiarity with AC-43.13b.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent working knowledge of hand tools and aerospace mechanical assemblies.
  • Excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lb. without assistance.
  • Ability to travel for vehicle flight test support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on electric aircraft and/or rotorcraft.
  • Experience working on Experimental R&D and/or prototype flight vehicles.
  • Prior experience with high voltage electrical systems and hydraulic systems.
  • Prior experience and knowledge working with composite airframes.
  • Prior experience working with Fly-by-Wire aircraft.
  • Prior experience and qualifications operating forklifts and other heavy machinery.
  • Experience working with Solidworks/CATIA, JIRA, Microsoft office.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) with Inspector Authorization (IA) Certification.
  • Part 135 maintenance experience.

Overair expects to pay: $50 - $60 per hour base pay. Your level and the compensation package offered will be determined by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
