Job Summary

The purpose of the Manager of Gas Sales – Mass Markets role is to execute successful sales efforts within the Mass Markets division/department of Symmetry Energy to achieve excellence in customer service, strategic growth objectives, and efficient business processes. The ideal candidate is responsible for the managing customer acquisition through external sales channels, managing third party vendor compliance, developing and driving efficient sales processes, leading the expansion of the digital acquisition strategy and leading sales campaign activities for all areas served by the Mass Markets business. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Mass Markets.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manages and executes a sales plan for third party sales activities, with a heavy emphasis on digital channels.
  • Oversees implementation of sales strategy and upholds performance expectations.
  • Responsible for leading efforts to achieve stated objectives including gross margin, customer retention, new customer growth and market expansion.
  • Ensures the ongoing business relationships with external sales channels are maintained.
  • Assists in promoting incremental products and services, resolving customer issues and renewing expiring contracts.
  • Enforces company compliance standards and assists in resolving any compliance issues promptly.
  • Recruits and manages new and successful sales channel vendors such as digital agencies, telemarketing, door to door, consultants and other aggregation groups.
  • Supports the operational processes by working cooperatively and effectively with all members of the mass market team.
  • Provides appropriate internal departments with all required information necessary for accurate financial reporting, sales forecasting, contract management, regulatory compliance and customer information management.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors and brokers to originate new business and resolve customer service issues.
  • Attend market specific conferences, meet with partners, and foster relationships as needed.
  • Support operations and customer service where needed.
  • Work collaboratively with go-to-market coordinator on new sales initiatives and campaign launches.
  • Actively seeks out and recommends new products/services that increase margins or expedite acquisition growth.
  • Assists with the development and testing of new product/services through continuous discovery of customer needs.
  • Manage third party agency vendors and freelancers to support content development, including content creation.
  • Explore new approaches to optimize the performance of the website and digital acquisition campaigns.
  • Present strategies and initiatives internally on new ad spends, new campaigns and new technologies investments.

  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of natural gas commodity and transportation issues, NYMEX related tools and financial products, and LDC/pipeline tariffs or marketing rules.
  • Able to demonstrate experience and subject matter expert knowledge of successful acquisition strategies, especially those with a focus on digital acquisition.
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency with performing complex spreadsheet calculations to analyze customer-pricing options.
  • Able to demonstrate skilled knowledge of PPC, digital affiliate marketing, Google Analytics/ AdSense, remarketing, SEO/SEM, social, display, click to call, lead nurturing, and other digital channels
  • Able to demonstrate clear understanding of marketing technology, and how it works, including API integrations, CSS/HTML, CMS, and CRM.
  • Able to work and produce results in a cooperative team environment.
  • Able to understand and discuss energy processes.
  • Able to understand and discuss sales processes with external parties.
  • Able to negotiate and structure cost effective agreements with third party channel vendors.
  • Able to present sales offerings in an understandable and convincing manner.
  • Able to organize sales channels and uphold company objects with external vendors.
  • Able to make persuasive presentations to senior executives and group gatherings.
  • Able to develop new channels relationships and organize a plan for sales campaigns.
  • Able to demonstrate track record of successful self-management, goal achievement and information sharing in a team environment.
  • Able to provide a valid state driver’s license, present a good driving record and maintain it.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely.
  • Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company’s values and business practices and do both consistently.

Education/Certification/Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, or business from an accredited college or university OR a combination of education and experience providing equivalent or related knowledge. (Experience in lieu of education is in addition to the Experience requirement.)
  • Minimum of 5 years + of retail gas industry experience or other business-related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manager capacity preferred

  • Able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Able to speak, read and understand the English language.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with deadlines that may require more than a 40-hour as required.
  • Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether open office, cubicle, or private office.
  • Able to travel regularly, possibly overnight, to attend meetings and/or conferences.
