Accounting Manager


ESCO Group is recruiting an Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting department’s daily operations. You will work closely with a team of accounting specialists and the Controller to manage financial functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and daily bank reconciliations.   


Our ideal candidate uses strong analytical skills to reconcile and oversee the daily department responsibilities. To succeed in this role, you should also have a problem-solving attitude and be able to manage a team effectively. This position will be onsite in our Marion, IA location.


Responsibilities


  • Manage the productivity and performance of the accounting staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies and internal controls.
  • Oversee and/or perform daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll and daily bank reconciliations.
  • Participate in Annual Financial and ERISA Audits.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing.
  • Organize financial data into useable information and maintain updated records.
  • Provide assistance to the Controller in planning and developing systems and procedures to improve the department's operational quality and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, identify their needs, and recommend solutions.
  • Provide overall support to the accounting team. Assist with questions and issues involving AR, AP, and payroll.


Requirements and skills


  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Accounting certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) is a plus
  • Proven work experience as an Accounting Manager
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Acumatica, Dynamics SL)
  • Project or Cost Accounting experience is required.
  • Strong computer skills, MS Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts, pivot tables and using advanced formulas)
  • Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws, and regulations
  • Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team management skills
  • Ability to prioritize work
